SS+D COVID-19 Response Team: Ohio Issues “Stay at Home Order” Closing All Non-Essential Business SS+D is Designated as an Essential-Business and Will Remain Open

March 23, 2020 | Sebaly Shillito + Dyer

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, Dr. Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, issued a “Stay at Home Order” effective 11:59 p.m. on March 23, 2020, until 11:59 p.m. on April 6, 2020. The Order requires the closure of all non-essential businesses and requires individuals to stay in their homes, except when traveling for essential purposes such as seeking medical treatment or buying necessary groceries and supplies. The Order identifies Essential Businesses, which are permitted to remain open so long as certain COVID-19 risk mitigation rules are followed. Sebaly, Shillito + Dyer has been designated as an essential business. We will continue to conduct business while maintaining our top priority of protecting and promoting the health and safety of our employees and their families, as well as the interests of our clients.

We are profoundly aware our clients need our support and counsel perhaps now more than ever during this incredibly unsettling time. We initiated our Readiness Plan more than three weeks ago to help ensure we continue to provide our clients with uninterrupted service and trusted legal advice. Our Readiness Plan allows for continuity in our business operations, including remote access capabilities so we may continue to deliver the high level of service our clients have come to expect. When it is not necessary to be present in our offices, our attorneys and staff are working remotely. While we continue to conduct client meetings at our offices when necessary, we know many of our clients have implemented restrictions on travel and in-person meetings. When in-person meetings are not required, we are holding meetings by phone or video conference. Those working in our offices are following all CDC and local government COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines.

If you have any questions about whether or how the Ohio Department of Health’s Stay at Home Order impacts you, please contact us or see the link in the attached email.

Please know SS+D is here for our clients, friends and colleagues every step of the way with responsible, timely and creative solutions. Count on us. Call on us. We are all in this together!
